Super Bowl Sunday Specials

01/29/2012 The hounds are arranged about the living room like discarded dust mops; big Dexter Dog upside down in his red leather chair, head over the edge and tongue lolling, legs splayed, completely asleep with his eyes open. The Daisy curled on the couch next to Barb and invisible Lola snoring the old dog snores in the corner. The atmosphere is drowsy; a cold wind blows outside the window, even tethered as we are by the intravenous electronics of our age, the world beyond these walls seems drab and unappealing. We’ve had our Sunday run across the street in the big field, our breakfast and our treats, the rest will be anticlimactic in comparison for them. Though next week is Super Bowl Sunday so it’ll be a little less sedate, with more treats and a bit of yelling, which makes Dexter nervous, being the calm, smooth water kind of guy he is. But, there will be treats and we decided to create a couple of packages for the occasion, each priced at $8.95/person:

Shrimp in puttanesca sauce                                              12.50 Spicy tomato sauce of capers, red chilies and sun dried tomatoes finished with a drizzle of good Spanish olive oil. Served over linguini.

Chicken Saltimbucca                                                         12.50 Breast of chicken with sage and procuitto. White wine and capers.
Harissa Salmon Filet                                                              12.50 Fresh salmon marinated with sweet chili and brushed in a fiery Middle Eastern herb paste of chilies, paprika, cardamom and cumin.

Chicken and Spinach Ravioli                                          12.50 Sautéed breast of chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce with spinach & ricotta Ravioli.

Boneless pork steak                                                                         12.50 We like to butterfly and bread this with panko, pan fry and serve with mashed potatoes and country gravy.
