So it looks like the latest version of the itinerant yard guy is a no show; the grass is dog belly high and the “never go away” mint is beginning to devour the flowerbeds once again.
I swear, plastic flowers and cement have never looked so appealing to me as they do this morning.
And it rained over the weekend to boot.
Now, there was a time of life when I would relish the prospect of attacking the weeds and manicuring the lawn, planting the pretty flowers and dreaming of the abundance of a summer garden.
But that energy is gone like a kite run out of sting, slipping through the fingers and soaring away in Redmond’s eternal breeze, becoming a colorful postage stamp in the sky, then disappearing from sight altogether.
These day’s it’s down to a moment on the couch, a bit of warm soup, feet nestled in worn slippers one dog asleep on my toes, one behind the red chair and another at my side, the world spins outside my window with sweet slumber descending like a shade drawing slowly closed.
